    Job summary

    Help us become the defining technology company of the 21st century, allowing open source to unlock the world's potential. The Red Hat Open Innovation Labs (Labs) team is looking for a Front End Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance to join us. In this role, you will work as part of a short-term, residency-style engagement, becoming a trusted advisor to our customers. You’ll help them achieve business success in an ever-changing technology landscape. You’ll collaborate with dynamic, cross-functional teams to build innovative application prototypes. As a Front End Engineer, you will be integral to the strategy of our partners, using Red Hat's open source portfolio. You will audit and implement a variety of modern application development techniques, combined with emerging technologies and agile methods. You’ll need to use critical thinking skills to tackle tough problems in creative ways. You will mentor and learn with our partners to create extraordinary value. This is a remote position with weekly travel to customer sites. Consultant may live anywhere in the U.S. near an airport. Successful applicants must live in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Travel to customer locations up to 75%
    • Mentor and collaborate with customers in new and existing tools and techniques
    • Support the building and maintaining of CI and CD pipelines for web applications

    Required skills

    • Diverse experience with client-side application development
    • Fluency in idiomatic JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and their various libraries, frameworks, and tool chains
    • Love of rapid prototyping and implementation of modern, responsive user interfaces, both on the desktop and mobile devices
    • Expert-level knowledge of microservices and Rest API contract integration and scalable web architectures
    • Experience using test-driven development (TDD), including unit and end-to-end frameworks
    • Ability to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment; ability to select the right solutions at the right time
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline
    • Practical knowledge of UX and user-centered design principles; go above and beyond to provide a delightful experience
    • Familiarity with modern DevOps practices like agile, scrum, continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD), and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
    • Passion for open source software and distributed development teams
    • Excellent written communication and presentation skills to both small groups and large crowds
    • Active Top Secret clearance
