    Job summary

    The Red Hat Operator SDK team is looking for an Intern to join us in San Francisco, CA. You will work as a full-stack developer on a fast-paced Operator SDK Engineering team tasked with developing and contributing to the Operator SDK and community. You will work on debugging, maintaining, and enhancing these applications. You'll gain experience working in an enterprise software development role, expanding your technical, creative, learning, sharing, and teamwork skills while collaborating with local and remote team members and external groups around the globe.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop and test bug fixes and enhancements for operators in Go, Java, Python, and JavaScript
    • Analyze log files to debug problems
    • Provide technical support and ongoing application maintenance
    • Help maintain team documentation

    Required skills

    • Ability to work full-time hours during the summer of 2020 in the location listed (San Francisco, CA)
    • Desire to collaborate with teammates to solve problems and peer-review code
    • Effective communication skills
    • Ability to receive positive and critical feedback from teammates
    • Ability to write, document, and debug Go, Java, Python, or JavaScript code
    • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in computer science, computer engineering, or a closely related field

    The following is considered a plus:


    • Development experience on Linux using command-line tools
    • Familiarity with Kubernetes, Go, Operators, Docker, and containers
    • Familiarity an agile software development life cycle, especially scrum
    • Familiarity with quality assurance (QA) automation tools like Selenium WebDriver
    • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases like MariaDB and MongoDB
