    Job summary

    The Red Hat People (HR) team is looking for a Psychometrician Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will develop and establish assessments through job task analysis and setting performance standards. You will conduct item and test analysis, equating, job task analysis, standard setting, item bank design and analysis, and other psychometric activities. You will also work closely with the Content Development team to ensure that the assessment is both valid and reliable.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Apply knowledge of statistical procedures and psychometric methods and models to create knowledge and performance assessments
    • Lead job task analysis and standard setting activities
    • Manipulate and validate data for assessments
    • Identify and develop the way each test is scored
    • Analyze test and item-level results using appropriate methods
    • Work with content development to ensure that item pools meet the needs of the program
    • Perform initial psychometric program review; develop an assessment strategy that increases our ability to accurately measure soft skills

    Required skills

    • Ability to work full time hours during Summer 2020 in the location listed
    • Experience planning and facilitating job task analysis and standard setting
    • Experience with assessment design
    • Ability to summarize complex technical information and communicate it verbally or in writing to a variety of audiences and customers
    • Knowledge of computer-based test construction and development 
    • Knowledge of database and item-banking
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills
    • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Effective decision-making skills
    • Creativity and innovative thinking skills
