    Job summary

    The Red Hat Systems Operations team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will partner with tool development and quality engineering (QE) teams to deliver services that automate and test offerings and infrastructure consumed by internal teams that create and support Red Hat's excellent open source software. You'll also assist product development teams in becoming more efficient at each available opportunity. You’ll work closely with engineering teams to help ensure that Red Hat’s solutions reach market in a timely fashion with outstanding quality. As a Software Engineer, you’ll need to be passionate about and an expert in helping Red Hat continue to produce outstanding open source software.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop automation software with the use of all phases of the software development life cycle and agile methodologies
    • Create infrastructure components that provide transparency to the operation of continuous integration (CI) and delivery (CD) systems
    • Assess and champion opportunities to use Red Hat’s emerging solutions in our engineering pipeline
    • Collaborate with internal teams providing supporting services to Red Hat’s customers as a reference
    • Work in a geographically distributed team
    • Integrate beta maturity offerings in deployments
    • Create automation that enables scaling of cloud platforms using Red Hat’s solutions
    • Work with upstream communities engaged with Red Hat in the creation of our solutions
    • Develop orchestration and configuration management solutions
    • Collaborate on software projects using Git or similar version control software

    Required skills

    • Experience with JavaScript or Node.js and AngularJS
    • Knowledge of Red Hat Ansible Automation and Red Hat Ansible Tower automation offerings
    • Ability to create and execute database queries
    • Experience working in agile software development teams
    • Ability to graphically represent concepts and architectures in documentation
    • Solid written language and communication skills in English
    • Practical ability to take on advanced work in the areas of skills mentioned in the required skills section
    • Advanced problem-solving skills

     

    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Experience with Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
    • Jenkins or other continuous integration (CI) system experience
    • Understanding of software-defined networking (SDN) and network-based storage concepts
    • Experienced with remote collaboration
