    Job summary

    The Red Hat Customer Experience and Engagement (CEE) Quality Engineering (QE) team is looking for a highly skilled engineer to join us as a Quality Engineering Intern in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will help us maintain our exceptional quality standards while developing complex infrastructure and providing support to a large community of developers and quality engineers. You'll promote continuous integration (CI) infrastructure improvements to enhance system stability, reporting capabilities, and user experience. This is a great opportunity to work alongside some of the brightest engineers in the open source industry.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Be part of the global QE team working in a continuous integration (CI) environment
    • Help select and develop tools according to the automation needs, including support for infrastructure, program management, defect tracking, test case management, etc.
    • Work within the internal QA teams and open source communities
    • Write automated test scripts, analyze test results, and identify and file bugs accordingly
    • Test bugs and write bug reproducers
    • Write performance tests scripts

    Required skills

    • University or college student in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, or physics, currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with 2+ years of studies remaining before graduation
    • Good object-oriented programming concepts
    • Knowledge of HTTP communications
    • Keen observation skills and attention to detail
    • Motivated with the ability to take direction and work well as part of a team
    • Interest in learning new technologies; problem-solving skills
    • Intermediate written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Basic development and scripting abilities, e.g., in Python, Java, and Ruby
    • Familiarity with build tools and CI systems like Jenkins is a plus
    • Familiarity with source code control tools like Git and GitHub is a plus
