    Job summary

    The Red Hat Kernel Engineering team is looking for an experienced kernel engineer to join us as a Senior Software Engineer in Westford, MA. In this role, you will design, code, debug, and test software from a kernel perspective and help resolve security issues by enabling countermeasures to mitigate the exploitation of security vulnerabilities. You’ll work closely with internal cross-functional teams and participate in upstream open source projects, communities, and mailing lists.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Perform threat modeling; implement attack surface reduction and kernel hardening features
    • Identify security vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel and drivers
    • Design review and code review of Linux kernel code to improve software security
    • Debug and fix security issues in Linux kernel software
    • Implement tools and security tests to identify and verify security issues

    Required skills

    • Proficiency with the C programming language
    • 2-5 years of experience developing software using C on Linux
    • Experience building the Linux kernel and developing kernel code
    • Excellent knowledge of Linux scripting tools like Bash and Python
    • Experience with Git
    • Outstanding problem-solving and collaboration skills
    • Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision
    • Motivated and dedicated to learning
