    Job summary

    The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to guide the direction, design, and implementation of our technology. In this role, you will work with some of the brightest engineers in the open source community to create innovative software solutions. You'll work as part of the globally distributed Red Hat Virtualization team to develop and maintain the virtualization stack on KVM (kernel-based virtual machine).

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Debug and fix issues for the virtualization stack on KVM, both for customer-reported issues and security vulnerabilities (CVEs)
    • Backport fixes to Red Hat offerings to address customer issues and CVEs
    • Maintain code branches for packages in the virtualization stack on KVM, in Fedora, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and CentOS
    • Use modern project management tools to track work, milestones, and due dates for the team

    Required skills

    • 2+ years of experience programming in C
    • Working with Git
    • Working in Jira and Bugzilla
    • Technical understanding and knowledge of Linux and virtualization software
    • Good language and technical communication skills in English
    • Good organizational skills

    The following are considered a plus:


    • Customer and security interest and focus
    • Knowledge of Intel x86-64 architecture
    • Contributions to and engagement in open source projects
