    Job summary

    Apply your broad experience in the procurement of marketing, events, and meetings while interacting with Red Hat’s leadership and executive teams. The Red Hat Finance team is looking for a Global Category Manager to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work as part of the Global Procurement team, which is organized into major spend categories including IT and telecom, marketing, business services, HR services, global workplace solutions (GWS), and travel. You’ll be responsible for engaging Red Hat’s stakeholders, setting procurement strategies, leading strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiating contracts, and managing strategic supplier relationships related to Marketing Event purchases. As a Global Category Manager, your work will involve developing category management strategies and optimizing the purchase of goods and services for marketing, events, and group meetings, including large managed events, medium size events, and group meetings. Your success will be measured against business metrics like savings, stakeholder satisfaction, contract management, and supplier management.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Partner with stakeholders and budget owners on appropriate spending strategies
    • Support stakeholders spend requirements and priorities by guiding procurement initiatives
    • Ensure that key preferred travel suppliers and proper travel policies are used
    • Gain knowledge of supplier markets and supply risk levels; assess supplier capabilities and help define and improve company's panel of suppliers, including local, regional, and global ones
    • Select supplier sources by guiding competitive sourcing activities
    • Form contracts with select suppliers to negotiate optimal terms and conditions
    • Operationalize negotiated contracts and manage the overall group meetings and events program
    • Define supplier performance indicators, build and communicate related dashboards, and manage supplier performance for key suppliers via stakeholder feedback and performance-based metrics
    • Ensure that appropriate business controls are in place to reduce risk and protect Red Hat

    Required skills

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field; MBA is a plus
    • 8-10 years of procurement experience in managing marketing meetings, events, and group meetings
    • Extensive experience developing and leading strategic sourcing initiatives for marketing and events-related purchases
    • Solid analytical skills in performing bid analysis, cost analysis, fair-value analysis, and scenario modeling
    • Complex problem-solving skills; experience with development and implementation of creative solutions
    • Solid experience with contract negotiations at senior levels
    • Experience building solid relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders and suppliers
    • Record of successfully persuading a wide range of stakeholders
    • Record leading cross-functional projects with minimal amount of supervision
    • Experience presenting complex ideas to management in a simplified manner
    • Customer service-oriented; ability to work as part of a team
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
