    Job summary

    The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Senior Storage Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for making improvements and automating the storage infrastructure to enhance Red Hat business. Your primary function will be to care for and feed the storage platforms. In addition, you'll learn to understand where and how storage fits into the infrastructure stack to provide solutions to Red Hat's larger business initiatives. You should also understand how storage relates to hybrid cloud platforms, container storage capabilities, and cloud storage option. Knowledge of Red Hat OpenStack Platform and Red Hat OpenShift, and an understanding of traditional storage protocols (NFS, iSCII, and FC) and the ways in which protocols are enhanced and maintained in the storage environment is a plus.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Maintain storage uptime based on service service-level agreements (SLAs)
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the health of the storage service and design changes in the processes as needed
    • Design and create automation services to reduce manual tasks
    • Create customer self-service and self-reporting portals via ServiceNow and Splunk

    Required skills

    • Experience with maintaining and managing storage platforms with petabytes of data in a global environment
    • Experience with software-defined storage platforms; Red Hat storage solutions is a plus
    • Ability to design and code automation capabilities using configuration management tools like Red Hat Ansible Automation
    • Familiarity with monitoring tooling like Graphite, Grafana, and OCI
    • Willingness to create self-service capabilities via ServiceNow
    • Knowledge of reporting portals like Splunk
    • Knowledge of common storage management commands via CLI
    • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible 
    • Knowledge of scripting languages like Python, Perl, and PowerShell
    • Understanding of continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) tools like Git and Jenkins
    • Knowledge of Nagios and Prometheus
    • Understanding of containers, especially knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift and how PVC claims are configured
    • Knowledge of virtualization platforms, especially of Red Hat Virtualization and Red Hat OpenStack Platform
    • Experience with data replication, in particular snapshot technologies and disaster recovery
    • Writing technical and non-technical documentation
    • Knowledge of agile tools like Jira or Rally
    • Able to work well within a team and collaborate with other teams
