    Job summary

    Serve as an application-focused expert who creates possibilities, solves problems, and establishes strategic relationships with customers. The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect to join us in the area around Minneapolis and Saint Paul, MN. In this role, you will support customers in our Upper Midwest region. You'll need to have a balance of technical expertise in Java, passion for modern application development, and understanding of challenges faced by enterprise application developers. You will help our customers overcome these challenges by using Red Hat's technologies, including Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Middleware, and by adopting modern development practices like DevOps, microservices, and continuous integration (CI) and delivery (CD). As a Senior Specialist Solutions Architect, you'll also need to have excellent communication and people skills because you'll be a key part of the first impression our customers have with Red Hat. This role should ideally be located in Saint Paul or surrounding cities. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Discover and analyze customer business and technical problems and connect them with the appropriate Red Hat's solutions that align with customer-specific needs
    • Create enterprise solutions that increase business value using Red Hat OpenShift and the Red Hat Middleware portfolios
    • Develop and conduct live demonstrations and educate prospective customers on the capabilities of Red Hat's solutions
    • Guide and assist with proofs of concepts, workshops, and seminars
    • Collaborate with product teams and the product engineering, professional services, and sales teams to ensure excellent customer experience with our offerings and solutions
    • Demonstrate expertise by speaking to user groups and at select conferences; share knowledge with your team members in order to allow them to learn from your work

    Required skills

    • 5+ years of experience with enterprise application architecture and development
    • 5+ years of presales engineering and solutions sales experience
    • Previous Container-as-a-Service (CaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) experience using Red Hat OpenShift, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), Docker EE, Mesosphere, IBM Bluemix, or a similar technology
    • Practical experience with Java development technologies like Spring Boot, WildFly Swarm, or JEE technologies like Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP), Oracle WebLogic Server, or IBM WebSphere
    • Knowledge of Java or Jakarta EE, e.g., EJB, CDI, JPA, JAX-RS, etc.
    • Experience with Enterprise Integration Patterns or Apache Camel
    • Business Rules development and workflow experience with tools like jBRMS and jBPM
    • Knowledge of event-driven architecture, service mesh concepts, Eclipse MicroProfile, reactive style programming, serverless or Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) development and architecture, API development and management, and domain-driven design
    • Working knowledge of a variety of programming languages and frameworks
    • Experience with application build automation tools like Apache Maven, Jenkins, and Git
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills; record of developing relationships at technical, management, and executive levels
    • Willingness to travel up to 25%
