    Job summary

    The Information Technology (IT) Enablement and Communications team is looking for an IT Communications Lead to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for IT associate development, IT communications, and IT workforce planning within Red Hat. You’ll need to be an experienced communicator to join our team. As part of our team, you’ll partner with IT associates and Internal Communications within Red Hat to lead IT’s communication efforts. Part of your role will be to grow the IT brand through communication and engagement opportunities, both inside and outside of IT. As an IT Communications Lead, you’ll need to be goal-oriented, organized, detail-oriented, and customer-driven. You’ll also need to be motivated with the ability to work as part of a team and experience in or passion for communications and event planning.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Develop content in partnership with Internal Communications and other IT teams to tell the broader IT story; announce relevant and timely news and announcements
    • Manage IT intranet page for external Red Hat’s audience and for internal IT audience
    • Lead cross-functional IT Communications Advisory Board meetings
    • Plan and realize internal events and communications related to IT’s mission, strategy, and priorities
    • Define and implement internal newsletter strategy; write and distribute newsletters via email or intranet
    • Coordinate with other associates to develop digital communications, multimedia, and scripts
    • Help build the IT brand both inside and outside of IT

    • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated exceptional writing and editing skills for multiple audiences; ability to optimize content for different channels of communication
    • Expertise in editing and proper use of grammar and punctuation; ability to give diplomatic feedback and accept and incorporate others’ feedback
    • Solid presentation skills and ability manage other speakers
    • Excellent customer focus and listening skills
    • Solid project management and organization skills; detail-oriented
    • Ability to track, incorporate, and prioritize input from multiple parties while maintaining meaning and quality 
    • Adaptability, flexibility, and the ability to cope with ambiguity; ability to work effectively and creatively in a complex organizational setting 
    • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external partners
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, concurrent tasks while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience and success working with organizational and external partners or customers to support their communication efforts 
    • Some travel

    The following are considered a plus:


    • 5+ years of experience with communications, journalism, writing, or editing 
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, marketing, or business, or in a related field
    • Solid technical insight and experience in an IT environment is a plus
