    Job summary

    The Red Hat Sales team is looking for a Sales Account Manager to join us in McLean, VA. In this role, you will help grow and develop our relationship with the Department of Defense (DoD). You'll expand beyond our existing customer base within the U.S. Army, position and sell consulting services as the key driver for a fast adoption of our core competencies, and cross-sell our offerings across technologies. As a Sales Account Manager, you'll need to have an excellent combination of customer-facing consulting skills and deep technical knowledge of enterprise software, including a core understanding of operating systems, virtualization, middleware deployments, and cloud computing.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Work closely with the account solutions architects to identify key projects, programs, and offices to recommend toward buying Red Hat's solutions
    • Manage the account planning process and completion of strategic plans
    • Be a trusted adviser for senior IT and business executives within key accounts and create a long-term partnership with these customers
    • Develop new solutions strategies within key accounts to establish proofs of concepts and pilot implementations of Red Hat's core competencies
    • Work closely with product, product engineering, professional services, and product support teams to ensure exceptional customer experience with Red Hat's offerings

    Required skills

    • Background in delivering complex customer solutions in a rapidly evolving technology environment
    • 8+ years of field sales experience with 4+ of those years specifically focused on the DoD
    • Track record of working closely with customers to produce solutions that exceed their business expectations
    • Extensive background in consultative customer engagement with either a major provider of enterprise software or in the sales division of an enterprise software reseller
    • Broad experience with the government acquisition process, specifically the U.S. Army's IT acquisition process
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
    • Extensive experience presenting to C-level executives and project managers from both the U.S. Army and its industry partners
    • Ability to maintain a solutions sales mentality in an environment with multiple products and services
    • Proven ability to work seamlessly with global cross-functional teams to achieve success on behalf of customers
    • Excellent strategic and tactical skills and creative thinking
