    Job summary

    Become a key member of our OpenShift team and focus on the standardization of containers, including working around Red Hat Container Catalog, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift environment. The Red Hat OpenShift team is looking for an Associate Engineer to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will enhance our Windows container management strategy. You will need to have a passion for technology and development and the responsibility for running a hosted service and supporting a solution. You will help us build a team and service that will change how development is done using the power of Red Hat’s technologies and services hosted in any cloud. As an Associate Engineer, you will need to be able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment to make our end users and customers more effective with every release.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Build cross-cloud provisioning tools
    • Build Kubernetes operators responsible for reliably managing, configuring, and upgrading clusters across various environments
    • Create software services in Golang that automate the life cycle of distributed applications
    • Develop Kubernetes operators that adhere to existing upstream standards, conventions, and APIs
    • Codify best practices by creating tools, software development kits (SDKs), and utilities that will enable and accelerate the development of distributed services
    • Interact and engage with the open source community by helping users and shepherding contributions
    • Adhere to good development practices when reviewing code and writing tests

    Required skills

    • 1-5 years of experience working in enterprise software development
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work with Golang on a daily basis
    • Ability to quickly learn Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora; working with technologies like cgroups and Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) and everything containers and Kubernetes-related
    • Familiarity with upstream communities and Ansible
