    Job summary

    The Red Hat Market Development team is looking for a Market Development Representative to join us in Durham, NC. In this role, you will work with the Marketing and Sales teams to contact and qualify prospective sales leads and set appointments for Red Hat’s sales teams and solutions architects. You’ll join a rapidly growing team and be part of a new strategic initiative within the Sales team.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Follow up on inbound marketing leads from the website, trade shows, and other marketing events to qualify leads and set appointments for our sales teams and solutions architects
    • Collaborate with the marketing team to uncover sales leads in new territories through cold calls and email
    • Identify customer business needs and communicate how Red Hat’s offerings can address these needs; collaborate with the sales team on account strategy, demand generation activities, delivery plans, and results
    • Make extensive use of successful prospecting techniques to evangelize our solutions, generate customer interest, and provide a targeted value proposition
    • Develop understanding of Red Hat’s technologies, offerings, pricing, and licensing procedures

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, management, information systems, marketing, communications, or a related field
    • Work experience or past academic projects in sales, marketing, or information systems
    • Public speaking and presentation skills
    • Knowledge of sales techniques and systems like Salesforce.com (SFDC) or Outreach
    • Willingness to travel as needed
    • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work and learn on your own and as part of a team
    • Ability to understand customer needs and issues and link them to Red Hat’s offerings
    • Ability to discuss key industry issues at multiple levels within an organization
    • Motivation to work under strict deadlines
