    Job summary

    The Red Hat Legal team is looking for an experienced, motivated, and highly qualified attorney to join us as a Corporate Attorney in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will assist the Red Hat Legal team with compliance functions with an emphasis on conducting internal investigations. You'll review ethics and compliance concerns across the globe and interact with Red Hat’s associates and management in a manner that helps safeguard Red Hat’s commitment to and reputation for being an ethical company. You’ll need to be able to assess legal risks while applying good legal and business judgment. You’ll also need to possess excellent communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders while addressing complex issues in an accurate, clear, concise, and thorough manner. You’ll help Red Hat achieve our goals in the areas of collaboration, transparency, and integrity and maintain continued growth as the world’s leader in enterprise open source solutions. This role is ideal for a candidate with well-developed interview skills who enjoys deciphering complex factual scenarios, excels at integrating legal and business judgment, and has an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing technology and business landscape.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Manage internal investigations from start to finish, including: analyzing incoming factual allegations to issue-spot and recommend how best to review them, identify and alert appropriate internal and external stakeholders, conduct interviews, preserve and review relevant documents, and identify and implement any remediation measures
    • Document investigations in a clear and accurate manner
    • Interact with Red Hat’s associates in a way that enhances Red Hat’s culture of compliance
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, e.g., management, human resources, about any remediation measures
    • Engage and manage outside legal counsel, as appropriate, including to opine on local legal issues for international matters 
    • Assist the Red Hat Legal team with other compliance initiatives

    Required skills

    • J.D. degree from a top law school with excellent academic credentials
    • License to practice law in any U.S. state
    • 3-5 years of relevant professional experience with significant experience in conducting interviews acquired through past experience with investigations, depositions, witness interviews, or otherwise; familiarity with technology industry and with accounting is a big plus
    • Understanding of key legal issues involved in litigation avoidance and preparation
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and solid analytical abilities demonstrated through your work experience
    • Proactive approach to recognizing business and compliance needs and exceptional sense of judgment in determining next steps and actions related to investigations and other compliance matters
