Quality Engineering Internship

The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) team looking for a Quality Engineering Intern to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will search for, analyze, report, and track issues in Red Hat Satellite. You will develop tools and scripts for automated testing, analyze test results, and debug problems. As a Quality Engineering Intern, you will also be encouraged to come up with innovative solutions to problems while working with some of the brightest engineers in the open source industry.

• Perform manual product and feature testing following prepared test plans and cases
• Communicate with feature developers to gain understanding and knowledge of assigned features
• Create test plans under the guidance of a senior quality engineer or a team lead
• Verify defect fixes and write up new defects
• Participate in and contribute to weekly team meetings
• Report accurate and regular results of test efforts to the QE team lead
• Make use of test infrastructure tools adopted by the QE team and broader organization
• Become familiarized with the automation test framework and potentially automate some of the tests
• Provide recommendations for feature or process improvements
• Document features or processes

• Ability to work full-time hours during summer 2020 in the location listed
• Applicable practical experience or educational equivalent
• Basic Linux administration and Bash scripting skills
• Programming experience with Python or Ruby
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Motivated with good analytical skills
• Solid problem-solving and analysis skills
• Fluent written and verbal language skills in English
• System management experience
• Experience with Git or another version control system, e.g., Apache Subversion (SVN), Concurrent Versions System (CVS), etc.

The following are considered a plus

• Knowledge of virtualization technologies
• Knowledge of continuous integration (CI) tools like Jenkins, Travis CI, etc.
• Participation in open source projects
• Familiarity with Linux system management
• Familiarity with free and open source software and automation tools
• Experience with a variety of bug tracking systems
• Understanding of advanced networking concepts
• Red Hat certifications like Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Certified Virtualization Administrator (RHCVA), etc.
• Experience performing web UI automation using Selenium
• Basic experience with Python requests, paramiko, and py.test modules
• Experience with a defect tracking system, e.g., Bugzilla, Jira, etc.
• Experience with open source software or open source offerings
• Familiarity with configuration management system (CMS) tools like Red Hat Ansible Automation
• System engineering and DevOps experience
