    Job summary

    The Red Hat Finance team is looking for a Financial Analyst to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work with the Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) teams supporting the Finance and People (HR) teams against its expense and workforce plan, reviewing strategic business investments, and advising on the optimal use of expense budgets. As a Finance Analyst, you'll need to be able to understand complex financial problems and provide explanations and solutions that are sound and clearly communicated. You will also need to have excellent communication skills and ability to support multiple teams.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Review business function financial results following each month and quarter-end financial close; provide explanation and support of variances of budget vs. actual, as well as comparative quarters
    • Partner with the Talent Acquisition (TA) and People teams to ensure hiring plans can be effectively carried out
    • Perform monthly financial and operational reporting with commentary
    • Guide cross-functional initiatives with global and regional HR, Finance, IT and Facilities teams to increase predictability of established metrics
    • Coordinate with other global finance functions to review consolidated short and long-term global financial forecasts
    • Provide global thought and operational leadership across diverse functional areas
    • Partner with the Shared Services Analysis team in India to guide net-new analysis requirements and facilitate development of reporting and insights
    • Provide financial models and dashboards with an analysis on investment, expenses, and headcount trends, including variances of budget vs. actual and year-over-year (YoY)
    • Develop an understanding of Red Hat’s global business model in order to identify financial trends and provide value-added analysis

    Required skills

    • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; master’s degree is a plus
    • 4+ years of experience working in accounting, finance, or a project management role
    • Solid relationship management, analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced office environment
    • Ability to analyze and revise operating practices to improve efficiency
    • Comfortable handling multiple tasks simultaneously
    • Flexible with the ability to work as part of a team
    • Experience with Oracle, Hyperion Financial Management, business intelligence (BI), Microsoft Office, or Tableau is a plus
