    Job summary

    The Red Hat IT Strategy and Enablement team is looking for an IT Change Management Consultant to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work in the Transformation Center of Excellence, which will have a hybrid approach to ensuring projects across IT are impactful and effective. You’ll enable other IT teams to successfully manage change and in some cases design and implement effective change plans as part of key IT initiatives. You and your team will be responsible for the development of change management best practices, standard templates and artifacts, as well as measuring and improving the overall maturity of change management from an IT perspective. You will be responsible for the enablement and mentoring of IT project teams around the best practices and standards set by the center of excellence. You will engage in highly prioritized key initiatives as a change practitioner, assessing change impact, then building and implementing an effective change plan inclusive of communications and change readiness elements appropriate for the level of change and maturity of the impacted user base. Through your engagements with enablement of other teams and direct change management implementation, you will continually refine and evolve the standards and tools curated by the center of excellence. You will partner with the Red Hat People (HR) Change Management Practice team to adapt best practices and tools they have created for Red Hat as a whole to the specific needs of projects within the IT teams. You will be a part of the Global Extended Change team, a global network of change ambassadors who will help Red Hatters adopt new behaviors and ways of working across the organization. As an IT Change Management Consultant, you will need to have great communication skills, solid relationship skills, and a passion for enacting effective change management.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Assess, propose, and improve change management practices, processes, tools, and templates on an ongoing basis to ensure most effective impact within the landscape of Red Hat and IT
    • Assess and analyze the project and teams to determine the level of organizational change, which could include technological, process, operating model, or organizational elements
    • Design and develop comprehensive change management plans and templates that could include elements of stakeholder management, business readiness, communications, learning, or adoption
    • Create and manage stakeholder management plans adapted to the project and organization
    • Mentor and advise IT project teams on best practices of change and project management
    • Design and conduct readiness assessments, evaluate results, and share findings in a logical and easy-to-understand manner
    • Identify and design measures to track adoption, utilization, and proficiency of individual changes
    • Identify resistance and performance gaps and work to develop and implement corrective actions
    • Work with IT project teams to integrate change management activities into overall project plans
    • Identify, create, and advise on change sustainment plans and elements that can reinforce lasting change adoption
    • Assess and develop communications, learning requirements, and plans for when a project requires changes in behavior or processes to support successful delivery
    • Partner with peers focused on digital adoption and process improvement to identify opportunities for cross-functional collaboration across the Transformation Center of Excellence
    • Foster a sense of accountability and cohesion across IT project teams with respect to effective and successful change management practices and planning

    Required skills

    • 4+ years of experience working in organizational change management
    • Prosci, Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP), Change Management Specialist (CMS), or other change or organizational certification
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience, ideally in industrial and organizational (I/O) psychology, business administration, or other disciplines relevant to business leadership and culture
    • Prior experience in delivering projects and navigating customer-facing environments
    • Record of mentoring or teaching others to use organizational change methodologies
    • Ability to apply a structured change management approach and methodology for the people-side change caused by projects and change efforts
    • Ability to develop a change management strategy based on a situational awareness of changes and the groups impacted
    • Ability to identify potential people-side risks and anticipated points of resistance and develop specific plans to mitigate or address concerns
    • Ability to develop an actionable and targeted change management plan including communications, sponsor, stakeholder management, learning, and adoption plans
    • Ability to independently manage several projects and initiatives simultaneously
    • Solid organizational skills with high attention to detail
    • Solid written and verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Solid problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment
    • Demonstrated ability to employ research and analytical thinking
    • Demonstrated abilities to work as part of a team and to lead
    • Process improvement and operating model experience a plus
