    Job summary

    The Red Hat Global Accounting team is looking for a Manager of global revenue accounting to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will lead a geographically distributed team. You’ll be responsible for managing the revenue close process and guiding strategic initiatives while working cross-functionally by partnering with the Finance, Sales, Products and Technologies (PnT), Legal, and Order Management teams. As a Manager, you’ll need to have excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills, as collaboration across the organization will be key to your success. You’ll also need to be able to analyze revenue accounting data and effectively present findings and business insights to senior management.

    Primary job responsibilities

    • Actively manage global revenue accounting, including the month-end close process and related reporting and disclosures while operating in an effective SOX framework
    • Support the sales team during deal negotiations by providing input on transaction structure to align contract terms and business objectives
    • Engage with internal and external audit teams to support the quarterly review and annual audit activities 
    • Review significant and complex revenue-related agreements to guide appropriate accounting throughout related systems
    • Prepare technical revenue accounting memos that address complex or non-standard revenue arrangements
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, legal, finance, global transformation operations, and our offerings and technologies to ensure strategic alignment on business initiatives, specific transactions, system enhancements, and process streamlining
    • Coach your team to support their growth and professional development using open management practices
    • Partner with global business owners and finance support leads to provide operational analysis and reporting
    • Review the existing revenue and project accounting close process and identify opportunities to enhance the process to make it more efficient
    • Assist with special projects as necessary

    • Demonstrated experience working and managing cross-functional and cross-regional teams
    • Excellent people management skills, including mapping career paths and practicing motivational behaviors
    • Proven ability to develop and inspire a team by empowering decision making at all levels, offering frequent opportunities to develop and encourage feedback
    • Solid interpersonal communication skills, including excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Highly productive and motivated with a solid work ethic and commitment to excellence
    • High sense of accountability for yourself and the team
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities by identifying and engaging appropriate associates to deliver under given time constraints and deadlines
    • Ability to present ideas and information in a concise, well organized manner


    The following are considered a plus:

     

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 7+ years of progressive experience including Big 4 companies or a combination of public accounting and industry organizations
    • Experience with software and technology companies
    • Experience with Oracle, RevStream, and SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) software
