Job summary

The Red Hat Single Sign-On team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work as a member of the team responsible for developing and turning the Keycloak project into an offering. You will work within Red Hat and the upstream Keycloak community to investigate, develop, and test new core features and capabilities. You’ll enhance the feature set of the Red Hat Single Sign-On product and the way they are introduced to application developers. You will also collaborate with other teams and upstream communities like OpenShift or Quarkus, helping to apply best practices around proper design of security related features and with their implementation. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will interact and closely collaborate with other internal teams at Red Hat consuming or utilizing Red Hat Single Sign-On. You will also have the opportunity to promote Keycloak and its community outside of Red Hat. This role will be based at one of Red Hat's offices where Red Hat is licensed to operate. Working remotely is a possibility. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and development of core features of Red Hat Single Sign-On or related projects to the various types of integrations with other Red Hat products 
  • Participate in the design and implementation of security related features and integrations for Red Hat Application Services group of products
  • Participate in prototyping, designing, and developing features related to observability, management, or upgrading aspects of Red Hat Single Sign-On deployments
  • Participate in turning Red Hat Single Sign-On into a product
  • Develop examples and documentation in support of the usage of Red Hat Single Sign-On
  • Work with the upstream community to enhance the feature set of Keycloak and its integration with Red Hat OpenShift and whole ecosystem of related projects like Quarkus

Required skills

  • 5+ years of professional experience in Java, including developingJava EE applications
  • 2+ years of experience contributing to upstream open source software communities
  • Good understanding of core concepts related to application security
  • Familiarity with modern token based application security standards like OAuth2 and OpenID Connect
  • Ability to learn quickly and solve issues as they arise
  • Ability to work within a distributed team and communicate effectively
  • Familiarity or hands on experience with Keycloak codebase and core features is a big plus
  • Familiarity with service reliability engineering (SRE) and operational aspects of running software in production is a big plus
  • Familiarity with Quarkus is a big plus
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Containers, and Istio Service Mesh is a plus
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Red Hat Application Services is a plus
